So, What do we do?

Neutrality is the precedent to follow

As the internet grows to be much larger in our worlds, the topic of legislation and regulation becomes ever prominent an issue. As we’ve seen from several contributors well-versed in the current battles taking place, the topic is a hot-button issue that needs attention. The only problem is that it may be drawing the wrong kind of attention. With corporations wanted to continue their greedy practices and further take advantage of consumers that both use the internet everyday for leisure and require it for livelihoods and essential living, it is essential that we look at this problem from a more human perspective.

While the internet differs greatly from water and other similar necessities, its station as a utility should not be in doubt. The passing of legislation destroying net neutrality is a step backward for both technology and educational purposes, and cannot happen. The restriction of the internet only serves to inflate and promote corporate wealth and their interests, and normal citizens are the ones who have to foot the bill, and face the consequences.

There are many places that one can voice their concerns to those that have the ability to affect change, one is to file a complaint with the FCC, which you can do here. Filing with the FCC to preserve net neutrality is a great way to affect real change, as well as holding elected officials accountable.
